He is Associate Professor in science education of Monash University, Australia. He has been a science coordinator and has taught chemistry, physics, general science and mathematics in Australian and South Pacific high schools for both the government and private school systems. Teaching in a foreign culture certainly enhanced his awareness of students differing learning style preferences. His PhD from Curtin University examined science education in Papua New Guinea, particularly the impact of culture on learning. His data collection for my PhD involved in visiting many schools in Papua New Guinea schools and some in other South Pacific countries. He has a strong interest in how to enhance students’ learning. Due his interactions with people in many different cultures, he is quite sensitive to what can impact on the pedagogical process. His main research interests include representations in enhancing learning, interaction of culture with learning, integrating science and literacy, science laboratory activities, developing country studies, primary & secondary science, educational measurement, and mixed methodology.
